Book Fair a welcome attraction

Since Friday and during the weekend, the public invaded the areas of the 33rd edition of the Book Fair, in the city of Morón, Avileña, where a variety of literary and cultural options were combined.

The African dance group Hijos del Monte, from Velasco, in the municipality of Primero de Enero, made an impact with typical dances and evolutions, a group made up mainly of students from that place.

Meanwhile the Sala Juvenil La Edad de Oro, of the Sergio Antuña library, conquered the presence of children, where writers of the stature of Lina Leiva presented texts, and in a striking way the book entitled Sin despedirte, by the author Reina Alonso Ríos, about poetry and drawing.

No less attractive was the presentation of the book Locuras Corales, a children’s novel by Idania Ocampo.

The writer Larry Morales, evoked the figure of Alejo Carpentier, winner of the Miguel de Cervantes Prize, who in his wide and profound work teaches us, with his style, what Latin America is, by presenting the book «Carpentier, the other novel», by Urbano Martínez Carmenate.

The attraction of the children for the texts was evident, when at the end of the presentation many were interested in acquiring such publications, like little Yancarlos Paez Marti, a sixth grader at the José de la Luz y Caballero Centre in this city.

Meanwhile, in the antechamber of the San Carlos Theatre, the writer Sergio Alonso Calvo, presented the book José Martí, Cronología, an interesting text that synthesises many details of the life of the National Hero, stays in numerous latitudes and countless actions parallel to his struggle for national independence.

It should be noted that the spaces set up for the fair were well attended during the hours of activities, and the cultural performances were outstanding, with the Rayitos de Sol Children’s Circus and the group Hijos del Monte, from the Primero de Enero municipality, as well as other exhibitions.

At the closing of the event, recognition was extended to the municipal government, the Directorate of Culture in the territory and institutions such as the La Moderna Poesía Bookshop and the Sergio Antuña Library.

Undoubtedly, there were multiple activities that in a tight synthesis were combined to delight those who, avid for art and literature, invaded that little piece of street between Serafín Sánchez and Callejas to share and make healthy recreation the delight in times where love and tenderness prevail.
