Best players of the 63rd National Baseball Series honoured

The ceremony took place in the theatre of the University of Medical Sciences.

The best offensive, defensive and pitching players of the recently concluded 63rd National Baseball Series were awarded this Sunday at a gala ceremony held at the theatre of the University of Medical Sciences in Las Tuna.

The ceremony took place hours after the victory of the Leñadores de Las Tunas against Vegueros de Pinar del Río, with which they retained the crown they won in the last national series.

The activity was presided over by Walter Simón Noris, first secretary of the PCC in Las Tunas; Raúl Fornés Valenciano, first vice-president of Inder and Juan Reinaldo Pérez Pardo, president of the Cuban Baseball-Softball Federation.

With the presence of prestigious figures in the history of national baseball, the All-Star team was recognised, both with wood in hand and with glove in hand, as well as the individual leaders of each department.

A special moment was the awarding of the most integral players by position, for which both offensive and defensive performance were evaluated.

Among them were catcher Oscar Valdés (IND), Alexei Ramírez (PRI, first base), Osvaldo Abreu (GRA, third base) and right-handed pitcher Danny Betancourt (SCU). The Guillermón Moncada stadium in Santiago de Cuba was selected as the best stadium.
