Avilanian trade unionists elect pre-candidates to the Parliament

A total of 72 men and women with relevant merits in productive, economic, political, scientific and social activities were approved as pre-candidates for deputies to the National Assembly of People’s Power, in the extraordinary plenary session of the Provincial Committee of the Cuban Workers´ Union (CTC), in Ciego de Ávila.

The representatives of the 15 trade unions proposed leaders of political and mass organizations, and workers with a relevant labor and revolutionary trajectory.

Niurka Ferrer Castillo, general secretary of the CTC in the territory, pointed out that the meeting was characterized by the realization of a new exercise of democracy in accordance with Law No. 171, Electoral Law.

She emphasized the importance of the trade union movement having the opportunity to propose those who can best represent it in Parliament for a five-year term, after the general elections called for March 26, 2023 by the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba.
