Avilanian solar photovoltaic park ready for inauguration

After intense days of intense work, the Carolina Photovoltaic Solar Park located in the Avilanian municipality of Venezuela, with a generation capacity of 21.87 megawatts (MW), is ready for its inauguration this Thursday, joining the National Electricity System ahead of schedule.

The site is the second of three of its kind to be built in the province using Chinese technology, and each will provide more than 21 MW of power, which will contribute to improving the energy situation for the benefit of the population, the economy and the environment.

It is expected to reach about 118 MW generated through photovoltaic parks, and thus easily cover the maximum demand of the territory in the midday peak time.

Solar photovoltaic energy is showing progress in Cuba and is part of the country’s strategy to ensure that by 2030, clean energy will represent 29 percent of the national energy matrix.

Divided into two programmes A and B, as they are from two different investors, Cuba is making progress in the construction of 92 pvp of 21.87 MW each, which will allow it to have around two thousand MW of this power installed for the hours of solar irradiation.
