Actions developed to protect the torcaza dove

With the purpose of increasing torcaza dove populations, members of the Ranger Corps of the Avilanian Great Northern Wetland are undertaking diverse actions aimed at protecting this bird.

Members of this supervisory force are maintaining strict control over entry into the area until September to prevent poachers from eliminating breeding pairs and diminishing the species’ births.

According to specialists from the Avilanian Great Northern Wetland Circuit, they are also working on nest inspections, maintaining observation posts, and applying fines to violators of established legislation.

Members of the Ranger Corps in this protected area have successfully concluded the Critical Period for Forest Fires and the Cuban Parrot Breeding Campaign.
