In keeping with the celebrations of the 2026 World Cup these days and to maintain the tradition of this sport in the territory, the First Category Football Cup «Roberto Rodríguez Baro In Memoriam» has begun in the Avilanian municipality of Morón.

This event pays tribute to a young athlete of the discipline, now deceased, and is played with matches on Saturdays in the afternoon and Sundays in the mornings, in the area adjacent to the José Martí Primary School.

The tournament is being held with the participation of 10 teams, divided into two groups, with the top two places from each zone qualifying for the final stage.

According to details from Licenciado Maykel Rodríguez Lamadrid, the main organiser of the tournament, the semi-finals will be played in a cross-system format, with the first of one group against the second of the other and vice versa, with the winners contesting the title in a single match.
