The National Institute of Civil Aviation (INAC) of Venezuela denied false information about an alleged expansion of air restrictions until March 2026, it was reported today in Caracas.
«To date, we have not issued an official communiqué indicating the total prohibition of civil operations in Venezuela until March 2026,» the INAC published on its Instagram account.
It indicated that «it is important to clarify that this news is FALSE.»
The Venezuelan state entity stated that it continues working on compliance with international regulations and on the supervision of air operations, guaranteeing safety and normality in the sector.
Local media outlets reported this Wednesday on the suspension of flight permits by the aeronautical authorities of the Bolivarian Republic to the airlines Air Europa and Plus Ultra, considering they joined the US government’s campaign against national sovereignty.
In an official gazette last week, the invalidation of flight permits for the airlines Iberia, TAP Portugal, Avianca, Latam Airlines, Turkish Airlines and GOL was reported, for «joining the actions of State terrorism» promoted by the United States.
The INAC stated that these airlines unilaterally suspended their commercial air operations to and from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, «based on a NOTAM issued by an Aeronautical Authority without competence in the Maiquetía Flight Information Region (FIR).»
The FIR is a defined area of airspace worldwide where a control authority is responsible for providing flight information and alert services, and emerged from the 1944 Chicago Convention on Civil Aviation.
Amidst that context, the US government announced the suspension from the United States of repatriation flights with deported Venezuelan migrants.
The Great Mission Return to the Homeland deeply regretted the decision announced by the US president and affirmed that the measure «breaches the spirit of cooperation, contradicts the principles of international law and abruptly breaks the agreements reached on 31 January with the official envoy of that country.»
Little more than 48 hours later, the United States Government requested the Venezuelan Aeronautical Authority to resume repatriation flights for migrants, which was approved by President Nicolás Maduro in accordance with the laws of the Republic and the international laws of Civil Aviation.
The arrival of two flights with deported migrants is scheduled for this Wednesday afternoon, flight number 94 coming from Mexico and flight 95 from the northern nation, so far in 2025.
