The Caonabo Prize for a lifetime’s work will be awarded to personalities from the culture of the Avilanian municipality of Morón, during the activity for the 44th anniversary of the local historical museum.
The recipients of the highest recognition awarded by the cultural institution are endorsed by a jury constituted for this purpose, which considers the link with the development of art and literature in the territory as a vital element.
It similarly considers the possibility for institutions or associations to obtain the Caonabo Prize for the work of the year.
The Morón Museum reaches another anniversary of its foundation this 30th November and since 2003 has conferred the Caonabo Prize, consisting of a replica of the Caratona, to personalities with a distinguished trajectory in the artistic and cultural sphere.
At the time of the nomination, the National Council of Monuments referred to the Caonabo as an «architectural jewel built in 1919. (…) Due to the monumentality and solidity of its architectural elements, it is one of the most impressive eclectic-style buildings with strong neoclassical influence in the Morón Historic Centre.» (Author: Carlos G.
