Cuba to Present Energy Transition Strategy at FIHAV 2025

Cuba will present its comprehensive energy transition strategy at the Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2025), led by the Ministry of Energy and Mines, with the objective of consolidating a sovereign and sustainable model, the website Cubadebate reported.

Rosell Guerra Campaña, Director of Renewable Energy at the organisation, explained that the central pavilion will bring together organisations, business groups and MSMEs to showcase priority technologies in the change of the energy matrix and to communicate the stages and goals of the process.

The national industry will exhibit innovations such as solar panels capable of producing electricity and hot water, public lighting with battery backup and electric vehicle charging stations powered by renewable sources.

The presentation of projects to manufacture batteries and inverters in Cuba is planned, equipment considered essential for the energy sector.

The Electric Union will participate alongside international suppliers, primarily Chinese investors, and acknowledges the collaboration of Vietnam, Canada and the European Union, which have provided non-reimbursable financing for social projects.

The MSMEs will show products and services for the residential sector and the electrical assurance of industries, while university groups will exhibit services and innovation proposals of national interest.

Guerra highlighted that higher education institutions also cooperate in local development through the installation of solar pumping and electrical services in isolated homes.

One of the most relevant moments of the fair will be the presentation of the financial structure designed to support the energy transition, which includes the recently approved Development Fund for the Energy Transition, an event that will take place on Wednesday, 26 November at ten in the morning at the ExpoCuba Theatre.

The director reaffirmed that the country’s strategic vision is to achieve long-term energy independence through the use of renewable sources, and announced the call for the Fourth International Renewable Energy Fair, scheduled for September 2026.
