Artificial intelligence and innovation will set the course for Informática 2026

Informática 2026 seeks to consolidate itself as a reference space for scientific, technological and business exchange in the country and the region.

From 24 to 27 March 2026, the Cuban capital will once again be the headquarters of the International Convention and Fair Informática 2026, an event that reaches its XX edition and that seeks to consolidate itself as a reference space for scientific, technological and business exchange in the country and the region.

Ernesto Rodríguez Hernández, First Deputy Minister of Communications, referred that the programme foresees spaces for debate, exhibitions and international cooperation dedicated to Artificial Intelligence, conceived not only to show advances, but also to drive future projects that favour its practical application in different sectors of the Cuban economy and society.

In addition to the scientific programme and the business fair, the present edition will again include the «ICT Panorama» stand, a space that is consolidating itself as a reference within the convention, by showing the principal projects linked to digital transformation in Cuba.

«We aspire for this edition to be a thermometer to measure the country’s advance in matters of artificial intelligence and a catalyst for future developments,» he highlighted.

Yoandy Lazo Alvarado, Director of Technological Development of the Ministry of Communications and president of the Scientific Committee, specified that Informática 2026 will include 11 scientific events that will address themes of telecommunications, digital government, digital economy, digital contents, digital innovation, cybersecurity, digital education and culture, geomatics, software industry, computational sciences and artificial intelligence.

Furthermore, four special sessions will be developed dedicated to the radio spectrum, scientific observatories and their link with digital transformation, the relationship of women with ICT and a forum for Cubans residing abroad linked with technology.

In the case of the International Fair, which will take place at Pabexpo, Ariadne Plascencia Castro, president of the Business Group for Informatics and Communications (GEIC) indicated that the fair has planned to maintain a group of spaces with new characteristics regarding those that are usually organised, among them the business forum and the stands that the exhibitors will occupy.

A space for the presentation of new products and services will also be enabled, adhering to the six main themes proposed by the event’s official site: artificial intelligence, digital economy, cybersecurity, infrastructure, connectivity and digital access, digital education and culture and digital government.

It will also have a space dedicated to the centenary of the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, who played a relevant role in the development of informatics and communications in the country. (Author: Susana Antón Rodriguez)
