Two new brigades from the Telecommunications Company in Ciego de Ávila, one for Cable and another for Cutting and Downlead, directed by José Antonio Pichardo, are joining the eastern zone of the country to unite with those who are working there on the recovery of the networks and telephone services damaged by the passage of the terrible Hurricane Melissa.
The secretariat of the Committees for the Defence of the Revolution (CDR) is also joining the supportive support, informed Alexis Cazaña Váldez, coordinator of that organisation in the province, who explained that at the municipal and provincial headquarters, clothes, toys, footwear, notebooks, pencils, toiletries and cleaning products are being received among other items, donations which will be delivered to affected compatriots.
With the maxim that every gesture counts to alleviate the situation faced by the population of the east of the country, members of the Municipal Commerce Enterprise are also offering their altruistic gesture with the collection of donations.
Faced with the damages caused by Hurricane Melissa, the province of Ciego de Ávila has given a rapid and resounding show of unity and solidary spirit with the sending of two shipments of food, one of them approximately 50 tonnes of viands and industrial products.
Amidst the economic challenges, the collective response of the Avilanians reaffirms that the Cuban people continue to be an example of union and commitment with their compatriots.
