Sugarcane collective of Majagua records profits exceeding 28 million pesos

The effort and dedication of the members of the Cabrera Agricultural Production Cooperative in Majagua municipality became evident in the current annual economic balance of the sugarcane sector by recording profits exceeding 28 million pesos.

Such a result by this National Vanguard collective responds to reducing cultivation and harvesting expenses for the gramineous crop and fulfilling productive indicators at 109%, decisive factors for the cost per peso to decrease to 60 cents by the close of the 2024-2025 period.

Despite resource limitations and adversities such as harvest losses from invasive plant infestations and regrettable fires, to cite only a few, the average profit distribution among the 94 workers reached 140 thousand pesos which, combined with advances, results in an average monthly wage here of 18 thousand pesos.

In that sphere regarding work projections for the period from July 2025 to June 2026, emphasis was placed on such important aspects as overfulfilling the sugarcane planting plan, strengthening the workforce, and the prioritised attention required by the rootstock affected by fires.

In addition to the Cabrera UBPC, Majagua municipality has 4 other sugarcane production units, all linked to the espirituana industry, though not all have the possibility this year to distribute profits among their labourers.
