With the prerogatives that the jury’s decision will be final and all participants must accept the competition terms, the Provincial Council of Visual Arts in Ciego de Ávila has announced the call for entries for the XIV René Rodríguez Regional Landscape Salon 2025. This annual event aims to promote landscape as an important expression within Visual Arts and provide a platform for artists working in this genre.
This call is open to creators from the provinces of Ciego de Ávila, Sancti Spíritus and Camagüey, including members of UNEAC and AHS as well as students from visual arts academies in these provinces.
Interested participants may submit their works at the respective provincial councils in Sancti Spíritus and Camagüey, from where they will be transported to Ciego de Ávila for exhibition. In Ciego de Ávila, works will be accepted from 15 July to 8 August at the Provincial Council of Visual Arts located at 56 Independencia Street, between Maceo and H. Castillo. Each contestant may submit up to two two-dimensional works not exceeding 200 cm in length or 150 cm in height to ensure feasible transportation and display.
Participants have complete freedom to approach the landscape theme from any perspective they choose, whether following traditional canons or exploring contemporary interpretations.
An admission jury composed of recognized artists and specialists in this genre will evaluate the works, while a separate awards jury – also comprising experts and distinguished creators – will grant one Grand Prize plus three additional awards consisting of certificates and material incentives. Furthermore, as many honorable mentions as deemed appropriate will be awarded, and various invited institutions will present collateral prizes.
All awards will be presented during the exhibition opening on 16 August 2025 at 11:00 am in the «Raúl Martínez» Gallery of Ciego de Ávila’s Provincial Council of Visual Arts. The show will remain open for one month as part of the summer activities programme.
