Sale of Agricultural Products Continues at Newly Inaugurated «La Cuba» Market

The sale of agricultural products continues at the «La Cuba» market, one of the projects inaugurated in this city of Ciego de Ávila to commemorate the Moncada anniversary, which has been excellently received by the Avilanian population.

The facility handles retail sales of all produce from its namesake production hub located in Baraguá municipality, comprising La Cuba Agricultural Enterprise, the Paquito González and October Revolution Agricultural Production Cooperatives, and the Máximo Gómez Credit and Services Cooperative.

Ramón Borges González, deputy director of the aforementioned enterprise, stated the primary objective is reducing product costs by selling directly from fields without intermediaries, enabling prices up to 30% lower than established agricultural markets.

Among foods available at «La Cuba» market – built at the site known as El Hueco in the Avilanian provincial capital – are cooking bananas, plantains, seasonal squash, mangoes, mamey fruit and vegetables. The market features six stalls, a butcher’s shop, cafeteria, and a store, operating Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
