Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Jorge Luis Tapia arrived in Ethiopia today to participate in the Second Stocktaking Moment of the United Nations Food Systems Summit (UNFSS+4), according to the Caribbean nation’s embassy in Addis Ababa.
Leading Cuba’s delegation, Tapia was received by Ethiopia’s State Minister of Labour and Skills, Teshale Berecha, as reported by the news agency Prensa Latina.
Building on the momentum of the 2021 UN Food Systems Summit and the first Stocktaking Moment in 2023, the event – scheduled to run through 29 July – aims to strengthen collaboration, unlock financing and investments to accelerate progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals.
The summit will also assess global advances in transforming food systems and develop a cohesive strategy to achieve sustainability, equity and resilience.
The gathering brings together leaders from various nations, including heads of state, ministers, researchers, youth advocates and representatives of civil society organizations from around the world.
