In the context of the emulation for the 26th of July, the Avilanian municipality of Morón is redoubling its efforts to strengthen the food sovereignty programme, as part of its commitment to local development and the nutritional security of the people.
Driven by the political movement Ciego en 26, voluntary work days have intensified in agricultural cooperatives such as the CPA Paquito Rosales, where sweet potatoes, rice and other essential products for the territory’s self-sufficiency are cultivated.
The Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), the Municipal Government and various political and mass organisations have led these actions, promoting active participation from work collectives and community groups.
Furthermore, the Centre for Environmental Engineering and Biodiversity (CIBA) has contributed scientific-technical solutions, such as the use of beneficial native microorganisms and agroecological practices. These have increased agricultural yields and diversified crops in cooperatives like the CCS Rescate Sanguily.
Concurrently, hygiene and urban beautification campaigns have been developed, aiming to improve the city’s image and foster a sense of belonging.
