World Boxing affiliation formalities completed

The Cuban Boxing Federation (FCB) confirmed today that it has completed the formalities to join World Boxing, an organisation provisionally recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to lead the sport in the Olympic context.

INFORMATION FROM THE CUBAN BOXING FEDERATION

The Cuban Boxing Federation (FCB) confirms that it has completed the procedures to become a member of World Boxing, an organisation provisionally recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to lead the sport in the Olympic context.

This decision stems from the fact that the IOC disqualified the IBA and decided to establish membership of World Boxing as a prerequisite for aspiring to have a presence in these competitions, which has led to more than 100 national federations already exhibiting such status.

The FCB’s affiliation aims to guarantee Cuba’s permanence in the boxing tournaments of the Olympic Games, scenarios in which its exponents have written a beautiful history enhanced by the conquest of 42 titles, 19 silver medals and 19 bronze medals.

Consequently, in accordance with its ethics, the FCB informed the International Boxing Association (IBA), to which it is grateful for the excellent relations maintained and the support offered, as well as its contribution to the development of boxing.

Obviously, the decision has also been shared with athletes, coaches and boxing managers in our country.
