The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) recalled the catastrophe experienced by the people of Palestine since 1948, with the expulsion from their lands, it was learned here today.

Presided over by ALBA-TCP Executive Secretary Jorge Arreaza, ambassadors members of the bloc and other guests commemorated the date with the event «77 years of the Nakba: Resistance and Memory. Palestine belongs to the Palestinians, we will never leave».

Arreaza pointed out that the creation of the State of Israel more than seven decades ago led to the «forced displacement and death of hundreds of thousands» of people from diverse Palestine, according to a press release.

He condemned the death and suffering caused by the Israeli regime and other nations to that nation and denounced that the project to evict the people of Palestine «has not ceased».

The ambassador said that in Venezuela and in the countries of the Latin American and Caribbean integration bloc, the Palestinian cause is always defended and when it is mentioned «the consensus support is always immediate».

It is the wish of the Global South to continue defending this state and to respect peace with the sovereignty of the sacred people of Palestine, he emphasised.

The Palestinian ambassador accredited in Caracas, Fadi Alzaben, denounced the horror experienced daily by «our people» and pointed out that so far more than 40,000 people have died and another two million have been displaced by Israel’s criminal policy.

He said that since 77 years ago his people began to suffer the colonial process of the Zionist government, at the expense of hundreds of thousands of dead.

Alzaben stressed that the whole world must fight against Zionism and genocide, which in recent months has killed thousands of children and left millions homeless.

Finally, he thanked, in the name of his people, this initiative promoted by the ALBA-TCP, and called not to stop the struggle for Palestine and to demand the right to food, health and respect for life.

At the end of the commemoration, the participants toured the exhibition «Resistance and Memory», at the headquarters of the Executive Secretariat of the integration mechanism.

The Bolivarian Republic said in a statement yesterday that the historical crime against the Palestinian people has not ceased.

The Venezuelan government «joins in deep solidarity with the brotherly people of Palestine,» the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

That catastrophe «marked the beginning of the systematic dispossession, forced exile and continued suffering of millions of Palestinians uprooted from their ancestral land,» it said.
