Promoting family farming in Morón

More than 3,000 patios and some 200 active plots of land are part of small-scale food production in the Avila municipality of Morón, as part of the self-sufficiency strategy, which places family initiative at the centre.

Agro-ecological techniques constitute the efficient mechanism that guarantees, above all, the fertilisation of the areas, as well as the elimination of some pests and diseases.

The cultivation of garlic, leeks, beans, bananas, peppers, lettuce and aubergines are, among others, the crops that have the greatest impact on the plots and gardens that abound in the courtyards of the residences due to their excellent coexistence with the climate.

Family farming, in addition to contributing in part to the food supply of producers and their families, allows for sales to the population, with flattering results by bringing the products closer to the most vulnerable groups.
