Díaz-Canel meets Venezuelan president in Russia

Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, and his Venezuelan counterpart, Nicolás Maduro, met today in Moscow, Russia, where they are making official visits on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism.

The Cuban Presidency reports in X that the two heads of state held a meeting to address issues on the bilateral agenda.

Previously, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) accompanied Maduro at the tribute to the Liberator Simon Bolivar, in the square that bears his name in the central Lomonosov Avenue in Moscow.

On behalf of the countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), both leaders placed a wreath at the foot of the equestrian statue, which is a replica of the one in the city of Caracas.

According to the information, both leaders recalled the importance of the victory in the Great Patriotic War and the transcendental role played by the Russian people in defeating fascism.

Díaz-Canel and Maduro also shared with young Venezuelans in the Simón Bolívar square.
