United States returns irregular migrants by air

As part of the bilateral migration agreements, on Thursday, 27 February, 104 irregular migrants (84 men, 19 women and one minor) were returned to Cuba on a flight from the United States via José Martí International Airport.

One of these persons was transferred to the investigative body for allegedly committing criminal acts before leaving the country and two were detained because they left the country illegally while on parole.

With this operation, including one carried out from the USA on 23 January, there have been 11 returns from different countries in the region in 2025, with a total of 296 people.

Cuba remains firmly committed to regular, safe and orderly migration, while reiterating the danger and life-threatening conditions posed by illegal departures from the country by sea.
