Since 2016, more than 10 kilometres of beaches have been rehabilitated in the Jardines del Rey tourist destination, in the north of the municipality of Morón, through the dumping of more than one million cubic metres of sand on the beaches of the Coco, Guillermo and Paredón keys, which have been widened to 50 metres.
These actions will correct problems such as moderate and occasionally intense erosion on sandy beaches, reduction of the berm area and loss of vegetation.
Aesthetic and functional values favourable for tourist operations are recovered in these seaside resorts, also favoured by engineering and maintenance actions.
It also highlights the collection of solid waste and the release of plastics from this ecosystem, which threaten biodiversity due to their slow degradation process.
