G.V.D. Tilakasiri, President of Sri Lanka’s Democratic Left Front party, today reiterated solidarity with Cuba in the face of hostile United States policies.
The Secretary-General of Sri Lanka’s Joint Committee of Democratic Trade Unions reinforced his stance regarding the Caribbean nation during a meeting in Colombo with Cuban Ambassador Andrés González. Diplomatic sources confirmed bilateral matters of mutual interest were also discussed.
The Democratic Left Front participates actively in Sri Lanka’s solidarity movement with Cuba. On numerous occasions, it has issued statements supporting Cuba and condemning the «economic, financial and commercial blockade» imposed by Washington on the Caribbean nation for over six decades – a policy the Havana Mission in Colombo emphasised has caused incalculable harm to the Cuban people.
