Scientific Conference to Bring Together Ophthalmology Specialists in Ciego de Ávila

The vanguard of visual healthcare will have its annual meeting on 30 January, with the celebration of the Ophthalmology Scientific Conference. The event expects to bring together not only ophthalmologists and residents, but also technologists, nurses, degree-holders and students, in a clear example of multidisciplinary work.

The central objective of the conference is twofold: on one hand, it will serve as a showcase for local research, with the official presentation of the results of studies carried out in the province throughout 2025. On the other, it will function as a discussion forum on current trends and protocols in the management of ocular diseases, from glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy to innovations in refractive surgery.

«In a field where technology and clinical evidence evolve at a rapid pace, continuous training is not a luxury, but a necessity. This conference seeks precisely that: to be a key driver for our professionals to strengthen their diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive capabilities, directly impacting patients’ quality of life,» stated the organisers.

The event promises to go beyond mere updating. According to its coordinators, the aim will be to deepen practical skills and, above all, to foster a culture of excellence and sustained collaboration over time. It is expected that the discussions and presentations will serve to standardise criteria of clinical excellence and to weave stronger collaboration networks among the different actors in provincial visual healthcare.

With this initiative, the ophthalmological community reaffirms its commitment to a fundamental premise: the constant improvement of care inevitably passes through the exchange of knowledge, constructive criticism and the sharing of expertise generated within the territory itself.
