With the participation of Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, leader of the Cuban Revolution, and Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, the parade for International Workers’ Day is taking place in the Plaza de la Revolución in this capital.
The date is commemorated with demonstrations throughout the national territory and with the presence of the highest authorities of the country, as is tradition with the workers of the island starring in the day along with family members and people in general.
At a recent press conference to mark the date, Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, general secretary of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba (CTC), stressed that despite the pressures of imperialism, the workers’ movement continues to be fundamental in the revolutionary process and this parade will demonstrate the power of the unity of Cubans.
Since the call to celebrate the commemoration was launched, a series of activities such as voluntary work, decorations, cultural and sporting events have taken place to demonstrate the importance of this event.
Under the slogan «For Cuba together we create» the population will once again mobilise in defence of the achievements of the Revolution and in remembrance of the 25th anniversary of the proclamation of the concept of Revolution by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.
