Messages of support for the athletes and repudiation of the criminal incident that, at the Victoria de Girón Stadium, caused the suspension of the game scheduled for this Wednesday between Cocodrilos de Matanzas and Toros de Camagüey as part of the 64th National Baseball Series, abound in physical and digital settings.
The Provincial Directorate of Sports in Matanzas informed via its official Facebook page about the official suspension of the game due to the reprehensible event of the theft of several articles from the Cocodrilos’ dugout, an event that occurred in the early hours of this Wednesday.
The publication reports that, together with governmental authorities and the Ministry of the Interior, what happened is being analysed so that events like these do not tarnish the image of the athletes.
The publication states: We are investigating the events so that, for the well-being of those affected, we can recover the belongings as soon as possible and so that the full weight of the law falls upon the guilty. Tomorrow, from 10:00 am, a double-header between Cocodrilos and Toros and we reiterate our repudiation of this event.
From the popular Facebook page La Banda Yumurina, which shares baseball reports and statistics, a call is made to fill the stadium this Thursday in support of the Matanzas squad:
«This Thursday, the Victoria de Girón stadium needs to write a memorable page. It is not just about baseball, but about the response our Cocodrilos deserve after the recent incident that violated their space.
«The double-header against the Toros de Camagüey becomes the perfect stage to demonstrate that Matanzas is with its own. Every attendee will be a living message of solidarity, every chorus a way to repair what was damaged.»
