Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, today toured economic and social centres of great importance in the province of Cienfuegos.

He is accompanied by Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Party and Secretary of Organisation, on his first stop at the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes thermoelectric plant.

The Cienfuegos power plant’s units are undergoing capital maintenance, with a major boost and prospects for the completion of block three in April and block four in June.

Using Japanese technology, the blocks have a capacity of 158 megawatts each, and are considered among the most stable and efficient of the National Electro-energy System.

Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organisation of the Central Committee of the PCC, will accompany the head of state on the trip, which will include the capital municipality and Cumanayagua, as usual.

«We return to the meeting with the people, which shows that there are plenty of reasons to stand up and continue building a society that is increasingly fairer for everyone and for the good of all. Today in #Cienfuegos, together with @DiazCanelB we will visit two of its municipalities,» Morales Ojeda wrote on X.

The Cuban leader has described these tours of the territories as a learning experience, and has stressed their importance in promoting local and national development.
