The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, held a telephone conversation with the Acting President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, in which he reiterated Cuba’s forceful condemnation of the United States’ military aggression and the kidnapping of Venezuela’s constitutional president, Nicolás Maduro, and the First Lady, Cilia Flores.
Through a message published on the social media platform X, the Cuban leader reaffirmed the support and solidarity of the Greater of the Antilles with the Homeland of Bolívar and Chávez, its people, and the Bolivarian government, in the face of the actions of interference and violence promoted from Washington.
Díaz-Canel also underscored Cuba’s decision to continue strengthening the historic relations of brotherhood, cooperation and solidarity that unite the two countries, based on principles of mutual respect, sovereignty and the defence of the peoples’ right to self-determination.
The communication takes place in a context of high regional tension, marked by repeated accusations from Caracas concerning hostile actions against Venezuela and its principal leaders, and reaffirms Cuba’s historic stance in defence of the Bolivarian Revolution and the right of peoples to decide their own destiny without external interference.
