Cuban President recognises the career of Comandante Ramiro Valdés

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel highlighted the career and vitality of the Commander of the Revolution and Deputy Prime Minister, Ramiro Valdés, who is celebrating his 93rd birthday today.

Through the social network X, the president sent congratulations to Valdés «on his lucid, vital and revolutionary 93» and thanked him for his example.

«The challenges are greater when you have historical figures in front of you, acting with the same energy of the moment they entered history,» Díaz-Canel stressed in his message, highlighting the trajectory of the commander of the Revolution.

From the same digital platform, the president of the National Assembly of People’s Power, Esteban Lazo, also joined in the congratulations and thanked Valdés for his example of dedication and commitment to the homeland and the Cuban Revolution.

Ramiro Valdés was born on 28 April 1932 in the city of Artemisa, west of Havana, and from a very young age he was linked to the revolutionary movement.

After the triumph of 1 January 1959, he held the posts of Minister of the Interior on two occasions, Minister of Informatics and Communications, Vice-President of the Council of State and member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba.

Since 2019 he has served as Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic.
