The Santa Clara Leopardos, representing Cuba, defeated Nicaragua 8-6 today to maintain their perfect record in the Little League Latin American Series (9-10 age division) being held in Monterrey, Mexico.
Managed by José Yadián Ganuza, the Caribbean squad took another step toward advancing to the tournament’s next round, securing their third consecutive victory to remain atop Group B.
After winning their opener against one of two local teams and defeating Panama on Tuesday, the so-called «Pilongos» will face their toughest group challenge tomorrow against Venezuela – another undefeated team that today beat Mexico. Cuba will conclude group play on Friday against Chile, who has yet to record a victory.
The Caribbean representatives have made an outstanding impression in the tournament, demonstrating the fighting spirit, resilience, and mastery of fundamental skills that earned them Cuba’s national championship title. Their ability to overcome deficits and deliver clutch performances has been particularly noteworthy.
