Cuba and India strengthened their ties, with the meeting between President Miguel Díaz-Canel and a high-level delegation headed by the Indian Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, Pabitra Margherita.
At the reception, held the day before yesterday at the Palace of the Revolution (headquarters of the Executive), the Cuban leader affirmed that this visit will mark a milestone in the state of the historic bilateral relations.
It is «the highest-level visit we have had from India since 2018,» affirmed the Head of State, who highlighted the political will of both nations to continue tightening their bonds, as 65 years of their establishment are fulfilled.
He indicated, likewise, that the ties that unite the two countries are based on the relationship that the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro built with the Indian leaders of other epochs; and that Army General Raúl Castro continued to foster.
For his part, Pabitra Margherita expressed that the world is a witness to the strong relationship that exists between Cuba and India, countries that – he recalled – have been together in times of need.
He assured that, towards the future, the relations between Cuba and India will be of peace, prosperity, and of future.
Also participating in the meeting, for the Cuban side, were the a.i. Minister of Foreign Relations, Gerardo Peñalver; the general director of Bilateral Affairs of the Chancellery, Carlos Miguel Pereira; as well as other officials from that organisation.
In recent days, India donated a mobile hospital with capacity to attend to 300 people, with equipment, medicines, food, consumable material and an electricity generator, which will be located in the municipality of Río Cauto, in Granma, one of the most damaged provinces, recalled the newspaper Granma.
