Colloquium continues in Morón as part of the Piña Colada Festival

The International Colloquium on History, Culture and Traditions continues in the municipality of Morón with the presentation by historian Ángel Cabrera of a conference entitled La Trocha Militar de Jucaro a Morón: su impronta en lo histórico- cultural avileño.

At the meeting held at the Caonabo Museum in the Ciudad del Gallo, Cabrera referred to the transcendence of the military system, which stretched from the south to the north of the territory, and its significance in the development of Hispanic culture in this region of the country.

In the activity, the historian of Ciego de Avila also emphasised the courage of the Mambises to defy the fortifications and obstacles of the Spanish Army in this area and the role played by Simón Reyes at each crossing.

Ángel Cabrera thanked Morón for his role in organising this event and for defending the historical memory and its legacy for new generations.

The second day of the International Colloquium also included the presentation by Professor Luis Miguel Gómez of the book La Trocha por dentro. Leyenda y realidad de la trocha Jucaro- Morón by the author José G. Quintas Santana.
