The smile of the Canadian Chantal Mathewsky created an atmosphere of comfort and relaxation when we began the brief exchange at the Iberostar Origin Daiquirí Hotel. The interpretation by Marianela León González, Public Relations specialist, managed to overcome the language barrier.
Chantal immediately revealed her pleasure at her sixth stay in this facility located on Cayo Guillermo, in the Jardines del Rey destination, situated in the north of the province of Ciego de Ávila.
Her preference is evident and she makes it clear from the first minutes of the dialogue. “I have already booked to return this coming November, accompanied by a friend,” she comments, motivated by the well-preserved environment, the architecture and the comfort offered by the different spaces, the excellent gastronomic offerings and the beautiful beaches and swimming pools.
That facility captivated her with its structure from the first time she saw it, when passing very close by; later she obtained recommendations from some colleagues. Persuaded by personal impressions and suggestions, she decided to stay to experience it, which turned out to be satisfactory and prolonged.
“Before, I visited luxurious and impressive hotels in Varadero, where the beach is good and wide; however, I prefer the Iberostar Origin Daiquirí, with lower buildings (of three levels) and surrounded by diverse and conserved flora and fauna.”
Chantal identifies with the sustainability practices aimed at replacing single-use plastics with biodegradable or reusable containers and an efficient management of the waste generated during operations in different areas, which includes the placement of labelled bins to deposit waste according to its type. Initiatives of a circular economy and intentions to stimulate more responsible behaviour towards the environment are evident.
“There is also a sign on the beach that urges the protection of the environment, not to remove shells, snails and other elements that fulfil specific functions in the coastal area. The hotel contributes to educating and correcting those negative attitudes,” she expresses.
The kindness of the staff is another of the reasons for which she would suggest her friends visit that facility, with excellent offers and services in the buffet and à la carte restaurants, in addition to multiple recreational options, considering the facilities of the environment for practising kite surfing.
“I cannot speak much about the night-time options,” she apologised, because she usually sleeps early, after dinner, and wakes in the early morning hours to enjoy the excellent views of the beach, the swimming pool and the gardens from the balcony, another of the pleasures that incite her to frequently break the distance between Montreal and Cayo Guillermo.
