Business Event Brazil-Cuba Concludes in Havana

The Brazil-Cuba business event concludes today in this capital, after two days of exchanges between representatives of state companies and private entrepreneurs from both nations, with the purpose of promoting bilateral business.

The event was inaugurated yesterday with the presence of the island’s Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Oscar Pérez-Oliva, and the Brazilian ambassador here, Cristian Vargas.

Sponsored by the Cuban Chamber of Commerce and the Brazilian Agency for the Promotion of Exports and Investments (Apex-Brasil), the forum will above all contribute to establishing links between products and services of the two states in strategic sectors.

According to the organisers, Brazilian entities and those involved in foreign trade, both state and micro, small, and medium Cuban enterprises interested in taking advantage of existing potential to develop different projects were summoned.

Brazilian entrepreneurs specialised in the production and trade of food, beverages, construction and home products, footwear, hygiene articles, and textiles travelled to Havana with the objective of increasing their presence in the Cuban market.

Thus, adds the initiative’s presentation text, Brazil consolidates its position as one of the most important commercial partners of the nations of Latin America and the Caribbean.

In September 2023, Cuba and Brazil expressed the intention to expand collaboration in foreign trade, with a memorandum of understanding signed by Apex-Brasil and the Directorate of Communication and Promotion of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment (ProCuba).

The president of Apex-Brasil, Jorge Viana, considered at the time that this partnership, including the participation of small and medium enterprises in exports, is vital for expanding political and economic relations between Cuba and Brazil.
