Avilmat has begun the remodelling of the emblematic Yisán Restaurant, a gastronomic icon of the province of Ciego de Ávila specialising in Chinese food. This project marks the first step towards the total recovery of a space full of history, which after years of inactivity and deterioration, will regain its splendour for the benefit of the Avilanian community.
Before formally beginning construction work, Avilmat carried out essential actions to guarantee the quality and durability of the renovation, such as cleaning and removal of rubble, a detailed structural review of walls and slabs, the dismantling of damaged cladding and the plastering of walls, actions which will allow for a safe and long-lasting intervention.
The project is under the charge of the brigades from the Base Business Units of Construction and Cargo and Logistics and Support Services of Avilmat, in coordination with the Dumiel Artisans Workshop, responsible for the decoration and artisanal details that will honour the restaurant’s Chinese cultural essence.
According to the architect Evens López Carvajal, head of the works, key tasks have already begun such as the repair of flaked areas and tiling in service areas with high-resistance ceramic, preparation of the cafeteria and attached shop, with masonry work underway and the rehabilitation of the roof will soon begin, replacing old tiles with modern and resistant materials to ensure durability and comfort.
He added that the design will maintain the Chinese identity that characterised Yisán, integrating traditional elements such as the ornamental fish water feature, red Chinese lanterns and the gondola of the interior patio, as well as furniture and decoration with Chinese aesthetic codes, combined with modern materials.
Avilmat reaffirms its commitment to preserving the gastronomic and architectural heritage of Ciego de Ávila, modernising infrastructures without losing their historical essence. The Yisán Restaurant will be reborn as a functional, culturally authentic and sustainable space. In the following stages, updates on the ambience and the estimated reopening date will be shared.
