Ciego de Avila’s Randol Izquierdo won a ticket for the Caribbean area for mountain biking at the Asunción 2025 Pan American Junior Games.
In the Pan American championship of the discipline, Izquierdo placed 36th out of 51 competitors in a circuit of extreme technical complexity, unknown to Cuban mountain bikers.
Of his experiences in the event held in Costa Rica, the champion of the route in the competition in that region, held in Guyana last year, said he was not satisfied with the place he achieved, although he was the highest scorer in the Caribbean area.
For her part, her teammate María Karla, from the village of El Gabriel, in Güira de Melena, is not satisfied with the 26th place in the women’s category, but she can’t help but consider herself happy for giving Cuba another place in Asunción in its international debut.
