Avilanian journalists receive awards at Radio Progreso festival

Julio Garcia Ruiseco, correspondent of Radio Progreso in Ciego de Avila, together with Odania Garcia Heredia, reporter of the  Avilanian radio plant, were awarded prizes at the Festival of the Cuban Family radio station.

Tribulaciones de un proceso (Tribulations of a process) is the title of the report by the local journalists that won the prize in the Onda de la Alegría (Wave of Happiness) contest. The story exposes the inefficient services that still prevail in the banking system in Cuba and the proposal for its improvement.

The Radio Progreso event, which is traditionally held as a prelude to the discipline at the national level, was attended by works from all the provinces, whose jury decided to award six testimonial, historical and economic materials from Santiago de Cuba, Camagüey, Sancti Spiritus, Ciego de Avila and the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud.

The work of Avila journalists Julio Garcia Ruiseco and Odania Garcia Heredia is now among the more than 600 works competing in the 36th edition of the most important contest of Cuban radio broadcasters, which will have its final days from 3 to 8 June in the neighbouring province of Camagüey.
