With trowel in hand, concrete actions on the building site and better skill in trade union functioning, the men and women wearing white helmets in Ciego de Ávila, won the national emulation on the occasion of 5 December, Builders’ Day.
«We agreed to award the venue to the Avilanian territory for the 52nd anniversary of this celebration, after a profound quantitative and qualitative evaluation from the productive, technical, economic and trade union perspectives, carried out by the Superior Business Management Organisations belonging to our body, the housing directorate, the state inspection unit of the MICONS and our national secretariat,» stated Misael Rodríguez Llanes, general secretary of the National Union of Construction Workers (SNTC), who argued that the provinces of Sancti Spíritus and Villa Clara achieved the condition of outstanding.
The trade unionist specified that they announced the results of the emulation movement, upon concluding the delivery of incentives to construction forces who intervened in the recovery work in Santiago de Cuba, following the damages caused by Hurricane Melissa, collectives from several provinces that removed more than 248,000 cubic metres of solid waste.

At the ceremony presided over by Beatriz Jhonson Urrutia, member of the Council of State and first secretary of the Party in Santiago de Cuba; Ricardo Carbajo Chelala, deputy head of the Ministry of Construction and other leaders, the Armando Mestre Martínez distinction was awarded to the Number 15 Projects Company, to the ECOA 57 and to the one called Escambray, and to 17 workers, while 16 entities deserved the Labour Feat flag.
