Young Avilanian gastronomy service personnel received congratulations from the Provincial Delegation of the Ministry of Tourism (Mintur) and the representation of the Islazul Branch Ciego de Ávila, after being awarded in the recently concluded XV International Varadero Gourmet Festival 2025.
The Hoteles Islazul Ciego de Ávila account, on the social network Facebook, highlighted that Yosbel Figueredo Rodríguez, worker of the Hotel Morón, obtained the First Prize in the Gastronomy Services category, while, Jean Pablo González Traba, linked to the Aparthotel Azul, in Cayo Coco, took the second laurel in the Flair Cocktail modality.
“Many congratulations to our young people for such a successful performance in the XV International Varadero Gourmet Festival 2025,” expressed Iyolexis Correa Lorenzo, delegate of Mintur in Ciego de Ávila, in a message that carries implicit thanks for demonstrating, through that event, the quality of gastronomy services in the Jardines del Rey tourist destination.
The Islazul Branch Ciego de Ávila praised the excellence, creativity and the diligence in professional performance, as well as the quality demonstrated during the development of the competition.
Quality in gastronomy services constitutes one of the best of the tourism sector in the province of Ciego de Ávila, particularly in the Jardines del Rey tourist destination, in order to satisfy the demands of national and international clients.
In the purpose of maintaining the flavours of Cuban food and drinks in preference, and recognising the excellence of treatment in hotel and non-hotel facilities, these awards are a confirmation of it.
To maintain these conditions, Mintur in the Avilanian territory develops a training process over the years through its training centre (Formatur) located in the municipality of Morón.
Furthermore, they participate in the training of students from Technical-Professional Education who also make up the quarry of workers of this sector called to be a dynamiter of the national economy.
Formatur has a recognised faculty of professors who annually train personnel for Gastronomy Services in the hotel facilities of the northern keys and those located in the cities of Ciego de Ávila and Morón, in addition to there being experienced workers who during practice in various establishments transmit their knowledge and skills to the new generations.
The XV International Varadero Gourmet Festival took place from 11th to 13th September in the Varadero tourist destination, in the province of Matanzas.
This meeting had as main objectives to promote the academic development of sector professionals based on the fusion of foreign culinary heritage and Cuban gastronomy, contribute to the exchange of experiences and knowledge between businesspeople and professionals, and generate alliances between providers and tourism exhibitors for the purpose of quality and sustainability of offers.
