The Ibero-American Researchers’ Night, an initiative by the Office of the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI) in Cuba, will be held in late September to raise public awareness about climate change.
In an exclusive interview with the Cuban News Agency, Iosmara Fernández Silva, director of OEI’s Cuba Office, explained that the event also aims to bridge the gap between scientists and society, showcase research outcomes, and inspire scientific vocations among younger generations.
Fernández Silva announced that in September, OEI will launch the Ibero-American Human Rights Education Award «Óscar Arnulfo Romero» to recognize initiatives advancing human rights education. The award seeks to promote more inclusive, sustainable, just, and egalitarian societies.
The OEI recently presented its «2023-2024 Report,» documenting the organization’s work in Cuba since establishing its country office on November 28, 2022. Cuba first joined this intergovernmental organization as an observer nation in 1965, before becoming a full member state on December 2, 1985.
Founded in 1949, the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture has consistently fostered cooperation among Ibero-American nations to advance various social development areas.
