Since last August, with the resurgence of COVID-19 in the municipality of Majagua, the Municipal Defense Council and other factors that have been responsible for the development of this necessary combat have taken active action.
Ernesto Linares Ojeda, president of the Popular Power and vice president of the Municipal Defense Council, offered his assessments regarding the situation of the southwestern region of the city.
«The municipality presents a complex epidemiological situation; we have four Popular Councils with positive patients except for the Popular Council of Limones Palmero.
There are a total of 42 confirmed cases, 19 from Orlando González, 13 from Majagua, 8 from Guayacanes and 2 from Mamonal.
To date, the municipality has one event that corresponds to the Orlando González Popular Council that is in quarantine, and 2 outbreaks, which are distributed in the five modified quarantines».
About the actions of the groups and subgroups that make up the Municipal Defense Council, what can you say?
«The subgroups of the Municipal Defense Council have managed to maintain the vitality of the municipality, such as the food subgroup that has guaranteed the distribution of agricultural modules to the quarantine zones, modules of jams, meat, fish products and syrup, this includes the rest of the population that is not in quarantine.
The support of the subgroup of transport to the Direction of Health in the transportation of the patients of oncology and the pregnant women has been maintained, as well as the transfer of the patients towards the centers of isolations of the municipality and the province.
We have to point out, the support given by the organizations of the territory, the work of MININT, the political and mass organizations, the production and defense brigades in the work of the messenger service, the organization of the lines and the fulfillment of the measures of social distancing in the territory».
What is Linares Ojeda’s message regarding the attitude that the population must assume in order to help defeat the pandemic?
«The Municipal Defense Council calls on the people of Majagua to maintain discipline and raise individual and collective responsibility as well, to recognize the support of the people in the fulfillment of the measures adopted in the territory, and to tell the people of Majagua that today we face an enemy that has no face but with the support of this disciplined and hard-working people we will be victorious once again.
