With the incorporation of third-generation technology (3G) in the communities of La Cuba, Corojo, Sanguily, Laguna de la Leche and Pedro Ballester, the specialists of the Cuban Telecommunications Company (Etecsa) in Ciego de Ávila increase the reach of mobile telephony in the province.
Wilfredo José Rodríguez Rodríguez, head of the Department of Mobile Services in the territory, explained that with the compliance of protection measures to avoid the contagion and propagation of COVID-19, the team of engineers also installed a new radio base with 2G and 3G in the town of Máximo Gómez, in Punta Alegre.
On the other hand, Lourdes María Morgado Pérez, communicator of Etecsa, informed that this facility was also placed in Loma Cafetal in Tamarindo and Loma Cunagua in Bolivia, as part of the computerization process of the Cuban society.
The Etecsa’s staff in the Avilanian territory carries out monitoring and studies of the networks and their users’ behavior in order to prioritize those places that need it the most, action that they execute according to the equipment availability.
In spite of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed on Cuba, the province has more than 70 radio bases with 3G and 44 with LTE or 4G technology, which reach the head cities of Morón, Ciego de Ávila, Ciro Redondo, and Cayo Coco.
