Perceptible earthquake recorded in the north of Ciego de Ávila

The network of stations of the National Seismological Service recorded an earthquake reported as perceptible 13 km northeast of Chambas, province of Ciego de Ávila. This is the 17th perceptible earthquake of the year 2020.

Up to now, several perceptibility reports have been received from the Chambas and Florencia municipalities, in the province of Ciego de Ávila. At the time of writing, no material or human damage has been reported.

The first occurred at 8:59 a.m. and was located 33 km south of the municipality of Bartolomé Maso, in the province of Granma. According to the report, several perceptibility warnings were received in that municipality, with no material or human damage reported.

The second event was recorded 3 km northeast of Chambas, Ciego de Ávila province at 11:15 in the morning, which was felt in the municipalities of Chambas and Florencia. There too, no damage was reported.

The seventeenth tremor felt by the Cubans this year was located at the coordinates 22,303 latitude north and -78,744 longitude west, at a depth of six kilometers, with perceptibility in the municipalities of Chambas and Florencia.

The daily seismological report issued by the National Seismological Service (SSN) of the National Center for Seismological Research, which closes at 6 a.m. local time, indicates the occurrence of seven earthquakes in this central region of Cuba which were not felt by the population.

The network of stations of the National Seismological Service (SSN) registered a perceptible earthquake, of magnitude 3.0 on the Richter scale, 13 kilometers northeast of Chambas, in the central province of Ciego de Ávila.
