The members of the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution (ACRC) in Ciego de Ávila evoke the bravery of the young soldiers who participated in Operation Carlota, on the eve of November 5th, the 45th anniversary of the beginning of that heroic deed.
Cecilio Jiménez Marroquí, head of the Military Patriotic Secretariat of the ACRC in the province, informed that during the whole month they are showing an exhibition that includes photos, documents, and books that include passages of that unforgettable feat.
The leader added that, in reduced composition and with the fulfillment of the biosecurity measures to avoid the contagion and propagation of the COVID-19, they are developing conversations with protagonists of that epic.
Faithful to the example of those who, on November 5, 1975, began the journey of the Cuban people through African lands, the ACRC maintains alive the commitment of the unconditional defense of the homeland and the legacy of solidarity towards the peoples.
Operation Carlota began once, in a sovereign decision, the Cuban government decided to send regular troops to confront the threat of Apartheid and constitutes the longest and most successful internationalist mission in the largest of the Antilles.
