On November 19, 1949, at seven o’clock at night, the CMJX Radio Morón station was inaugurated; the second in the history of the town, which went on the air with a power of 250 watts, in the Medium Wave and in the frequency of 1230 kilocycles.
This status is maintained by the broadcasting media until five years later when it becomes Cadena de La Trocha, with transmitting equipment in the cities of Ciego and Morón in the frequencies of 1430 and 1230 kilocycles respectively.
Being this way, it is surprised by the triumph of the Revolution, when the Cuban radio is reordered and the X starts serving the interests of the Revolution in the Region of Morón, with a permanent signal that turns it into an ideological sentry of the northern coast of the Island, from Nuevitas to Caibarién, activity that it carries out 24 hours a day as a territorial radio station.
When the new province of Ciego de Ávila was constituted, Radio Surco assumed the provincial responsibilities of the radio system, and the X returned to its 17-hour workday, until in the eighties, due to the strategic interest of the defense of the country, in its character of municipal station, it passed to the Modulated Frequency band which, although it improved in terms of sound quality, did not stop reducing its universe of audience, since it limited its radius of action and did not even offer total coverage to the municipality.
Throughout these years, the seventy-year old CMJX, which became CMIX after the political-administrative division of the country, has a well-qualified staff, with a large audience and remains the main voice of political, educational, economic and scientific interests of the territory that assumes it as its own, while it grows again in its radius of action with FM signal in the municipalities of the West of the province.
Throughout the years, the X is like a school from which numerous professionals emerge who swell the ranks of the national radio and television, it has a wide team of professionals in all the specialties of the Cuban radio and, from the 70th anniversary, it assumes the responsibility of Teaching Unit assigned to the University «Máximo Gómez Báez» of Ciego de Ávila, as a community radio station.
