The professionals of the provincial Angiology and Vascular Surgery Service in Ciego de Ávila continue to provide specialized care to patients who, due to their clinical pathology, require hospital admission, while intensifying measures and protocols to prevent the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
In spite of the instability of supplies and essential resources such as antibiotics and other drugs, the doctors and nurses of the Angiology ward of the Antonio Luaces Iraola hospital take on cases from the southern and northern areas of the province, and achieve success in the recovery of diabetic patients with complex lesions who come late to the health system.
Dr. Rolando Vega García, in charge of the program for the use of Heberprot-P, explained that they have the new medicine for the treatment of Avilanians with diabetes mellitus and ulcers in the lower limbs that require the Cuban medicine that accelerates the healing of this type of lesions.
In 2020, in the middle of the COVID-19 fight and in the midst of a virus transmission event in the hospital, the doctors and nurses linked to this health program came in second place nationally due to the satisfactory results in the indicators evaluated in this project.
