With regard to the change of the time hour on November 1, the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) and the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) in Ciego de Ávila, call for the cooperation of all in saving electricity.
Odelsys Valcárcel Pérez, general secretary of the FMC in the province, informed that the women’s organization proposes a general blackout in the homes five minutes before nine o’clock at night, so that along with the applause dedicated to the health personnel, the lighting up in the homes will also take place.
The leader added that reinforcing the power saving is possible without having to dispense with the favors of this, so it is recommended to carry out most of the household activities whenever possible outside the peak hours, established from eleven in the morning to one PM and from six in the afternoon to ten at night.
In that sense, it is proposed to take advantage of the natural light, the final heat of the electric cooker, and to turn it off a few minutes before finishing the cooking, to turn on only the lights and the necessary equipment, to maintain low levels of illumination to watch TV, and to turn on the air conditioning preferably after ten o’clock at night.
The Federation of Cuban Women and the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution in Ciego de Ávila urge that contributions be made to energy saving, by means of daily self-reading of the meter to adjust internal consumption, not leaving the fan on in the room, gathering as many clothes as possible for washing and ironing, and not opening the refrigerator frequently.
