A little less than a month before the beginning of the hurricane season in Cuba, in the Avilanian municipality of Ciro Redondo, intensive sanitation and pruning of trees are being carried out since this week, to avoid damage to the power lines due to hydro-meteorological events.
Workers of the Municipal Company of Communal Services, together with the Electric Company, are also carrying out cleaning actions in drains and sewers, creating the necessary conditions to receive the Meteoro 2021 exercise, scheduled to take place in the central town of Ciro Redondo, on the 22nd and 23rd of this month.
Gustavo León Arencibia, in charge of the community, informed to Radio Surco that prevention has always been the maxim of the Cuban people and for that reason these exercises and tasks are carried out in order to prepare the members of the Civil Defense and the population in general for different disaster situations.
The vice-president of the government, Antonio Benítez Carmona, commented that the actions will be extended to the communities and popular councils throughout the month of May, so that on June 1st, when the hurricane season begins in Cuba, the people of Ciro Redondo will have reduced the dangers to life, homes and public areas.
