In Ciego de Ávila we work for the health and nutrition of the people

While a group of warriors from the public health sector are engaged in a fierce struggle to minimize the effects of COVID-19, others are working to lift up the economy as the driving force of society.

In the province of Ciego de Ávila, we can already see that, along with the constant work of medical personnel, there are men and women who go every day to carry out agricultural tasks, producing food and basic material goods.

Several press reports show how, with the means of personal protection, many workers go to the furrow every day, to the poultry farms and to the food production centers, so necessary in these times of scarcity and limitation.

The avilanian territory has already taken back the export of pineapple and mango, in a small shipment to Spain. These fruits are also processed in various industries, some very small, to promote consumption options, both in homes and in hospitals, isolation centers, and health institutions.

The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz Canel, constantly pronounces the need to prioritize the feeding of the population with local productions and to substitute imports to give balance to the national economy.

In the province of Ciego de Ávila, the goodness of its fertile lands is well used and agriculture constitutes a bastion of its production in order to fulfill the commitments of the basic basket of its population, contribute to the national balance and export items that meet the required quality standards.

Every effort will be valid in this race against time and the ever-growing needs to satisfy the people’s food and thus compensate for the standard of living to which the Cuban state aspires.
