The five polyclinics in the municipality of Ciego de Ávila have a consultation room for the attention of suspects at COVID-19, and a room for the collection of PCR samples in real-time, the only territory in the country with this structure.
Maikel Garcia de la Fuente, director of the Antonio Maceo Grajales Clinic in the central area, explained that they are rigorous in compliance with health measures to prevent infection, and have the material and human resources for the timely diagnosis of possible cases carrying the deadly virus.
With the correct use of the means of protection, Dr. Antonio Torres García, at the service of the specialized clinic, explained that in the presence of respiratory symptoms, fever or lack of air, the test is immediately carried out, and if it is positive, the patient is immediately transferred.
The Polyclinic of the Central area of the Ávilanian territory has a population of 37 698 people, distributed in five People’s Councils, a health institution that in more than 12 days of implementation of this structure, has made a figure of over 100 tests.
The diagnostic methods in the sanitary institutions allow detecting the sick people in a timely manner, avoiding serious consequences of the disease and reverting in the shortest time possible the epidemiological situation of Ciego de Ávila, allowing to advance to the new normality.
